The Global Maritime Forum is an international not-for-profit foundation dedicated to unleashing the potential of the global maritime industry.

Legitimacy, accountability and transparency are fundamental principles to fulfilling the mission of the Global Maritime Forum. The foundation is governed by an independent Board of Directors, who will help to set the direction for future priorities and actions.

Board of directors

Peter Stokes, Chairman
Senior Adviser and Head of Shipping, Lazard, United Kingdom

Through his work as a senior investment banker and member of several boards of directors, Peter Stokes has long-standing experience in acting as advisor to many shipping companies. He served in the Equity Research and Origination departments of Lazard Capital Markets before he moved to Lazard Brothers Corporate Finance Department in 2001. He was appointed Senior Adviser and Head of Shipping at Lazard in 2009.

Peter Stokes began his career in 1971 at Lloyd’s List and has since held positions Head of Shipping and Insurance Research at Greig Middleton, Managing Director at Maritime Consultants, Partner at Castalia Advisers and Director of Bona Shipholding, amongst others. From 1975 to 1980 he was consultant to the Finance Committee of the International Maritime Industries Forum.

Peter Stokes currently serves as a Director of Hafnia Tankers Ltd. and Caravel Shipping Ltd. and as a Non-Executive Director at Ultrabulk Shipping A/S. He is an Advisory Board member of Ultranav and a Senior Advisor to Oak Hill Advisors LLP.

Peter Stokes is the author of “Ship Finance: credit expansion and the boom/bust cycle” (1992, 1997).


Amy Jadesimi, Vice Chairman
Managing Director, LADOL, Nigeria; Commissioner, Business & Sustainable Development Commission

Dr Amy Jadesimi started her career at Goldman Sachs International in London as part of the Investment Banking Division, specializing in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions and Brait Private Equity in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she worked as a transaction executive in Private Equity. After graduating from Stanford Business School, Dr Amy Jadesimi moved to Nigeria where she set up a financial consultancy firm before joining LADOL’s management team.

In 2012, she was named an Archbishop Desmond Tutu Fellow; in 2013, a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum; also in 2013, a Rising Talent by the Women’s Forum for Economy and Society; in 2014, Forbes included her in The 20 Youngest Power Women in Africa; and in July 2015, the Financial Times named her one of top 25 Africans To Watch.

In 2015, Dr Amy Jadesimi joined the 2015 Advisory Board for the UN Development Programme’s “Africa Human Development Report”. More recently she has been appointed to the Business & Sustainable Development Commission. She is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Prince’s Trust International.

Dr Amy Jadesimi holds an MBA from Stanford University, as well as a degree as a medical doctor (MD) from the University of Oxford.


Randy Chen
Director and Vice Chairman, Wan Hai Lines, Taiwan

Randy Chen has been Vice Chairman and Director at Wan Hai Lines Ltd. since June 2015 and June 24, 2011 respectively and is responsible for the International Business Development functions across different departments.

Randy has served on the Wan Hai Lines Board of Directors since 2002. Before joining Wan Hai Lines, Randy was a member of the senior management team of the Central Trading & Development Group, a Taiwan-based investor group with extensive infrastructure and real estate holdings in Vietnam. Randy also has extensive experience in software and financial services.

Randy is Wan Hai Lines’ representative for industry forums including the World Shipping Council, Asian Shipowners’ Forum and the Intra-Asia Discussion Agreement. He is Deputy Chairman and Director at UK P&I Club and member of the Board of Directors of Interasia Lines, NIS Holdings and Commercial Management Limited. Randy also serves as a Supervisor at Shihlin Paper Corporation.

Randy holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from MIT’s Sloan School of Business as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and English Literature from Duke University.


Flemming R. Jacobs
Senior Advisor, Global Maritime Forum

Flemming R. Jacobs is a senior executive with more than 40 years’ experience and executive responsibilities in transportation and logistics across Europe, Asia and North America.

His career at A.P. Moller – Maersk spanned nearly 40 years. He was part of the team which built Maersk Line, the world’s biggest container shipping company. He was made a partner at A. P. Moller – Maersk with responsibility for the group’s crude, product and gas tanker activities. In 1999, he joined Neptune Orient Lines in Singapore as Group President and Chief Executive Officer, where he stayed until 2003.

He has 10+ years’ experience as an independent director and advisor of several public and private companies including Ultranav, Chile, Inchcape Shipping Services, UK, Rickmers, Germany, ZIM, Israel and Vestergaard Frandsen, Switzerland. He is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Panama Canal Authority, member of the Baltic Exchange Council and serves as an advisor to Arshiya International.

In 2015, Flemming R. Jacobs received the prestigious Lloyd’s List Lifetime Achievement Award.


Jesper T. Lok
Chairman, J. Lauritzen, Denmark

Jesper T. Lok joined J. Lauritzen as Chairman of the Board in 2014. In 2016 he was appointed as Chair of the Danish Maritime Strategy Team. He serves as Chairman of Dagrofa and is Member of the Board at Alliance+ and Newsec Datea.

Jesper T. Lok began his career at A.P. Møller – Mærsk in 1987, where he held numerous positions including country manager for Nigeria and Pakistan. In 2004 he was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Svitzer. He left the Maersk Group in 2012 to become Chief Executive Officer of DSB and subsequently, in 2015, Chief Executive Officer of Falck Emergency.

Jesper T. Lok holds an MBA from Nova University, Japan and has attended various executive courses at Columbia, Harvard, IMD, INSEAD and Kellogg.


Oivind Lorentzen III
Managing Director & Director and Vice Chairman of Northern Navigation LLC and SEACOR Holdings, USA

Oivind Lorentzen III has been non-executive Vice Chairman of SEACOR Holdings since early 2015, prior to which he was its Chief Executive Officer.

From 1990 until 2010, he served as President of Northern Navigation International LTD. and from 2000 to 2008 as Chairman of NFC Shipping Funds. From 1979 to 1990, he was Managing Director of Lorentzen Empreendimentos SA. in Brazil, and he served on its Board of Directors until 2005.

He is currently a Director of Genessee & Wyoming Inc., Dorian LPG LTD., Blue Danube Inc., and Northern Fund Management Bermuda Holdings LTD.

Oivind Lorentzen serves as a member of the Council of Foreign Relations, a Board Member of the David Rockefeller Center for Latin America Affairs, and former President of the Norwegian – America Chamber  of Commerce.

Oivind Lorentzen earned his undergraduate degree at Harvard College and holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School.


Michael Parker
Managing Director, Global Head of Shipping, Citi, United Kingdom

Michael Parker has been with Citibank since 1977. After various relationship management roles he joined Citibank’s Shipping Division in London in 1985. He was appointed Global Industry Head with responsibility for Citibank’s business world-wide managed through its shipping centres in London and Piraeus, New York, Tokyo and Hong Kong in 1997.

In 2007 he was appointed Corporate Banking Division Executive for the UK and Northern Europe. He became Joint Head for the UK Banking and Broking business in 2009. In 2010 was appointed chairman of EMEA Corporate Banking. Michael is Vice Chairman of Corporate & Investment Banking.

Michael Parker holds an M.A. in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from University of Oxford and has attended the Stanford Executive Program.
